Bought this book for my daughter who will be starting at a French immersion school next year. She will be going into grade 1, and I think this workbook will help learn the basics so she is not starting too far behind those who starting learning in kindergarten. It gives you phonetic break down of the French words, so I find that helpful for my husband to help her as an anglophone. I recommend making copies of each page or doing the activities in pencil, so that your child can repeat them over again; as the workbook seems to move into different areas pretty quickly.

When these workbooks arrived, my 6 & 7 year old daughters were thrilled. They loved the color pictures on each page, the simple layout, and the fact that the pronunciation was listed under each word. However, after trying to work with this book as part of our school lessons, I quickly found that I don't like it. One of the main reasons is that the suggested pronunciations are often incorrect. I am not a fluent French speaker, but studied French for many years in high school and college, so I have a decent foundation. Sometimes the pronunciations are just "dumbed down" for easier conversion to English; I get that. I don't love it, but it makes sense for this level of book. But many other times, the pronunciations are actually incorrect and inconsistent across similar words. This just points to poor editing and language consulting! Another complaint I have is that it is really just a vocabulary list. The activities are all the same - just copy the word down in French (with the exception of one word search in the back!). I wish there were at least some prompts for questions or suggested sentences to use the vocabulary for each group of words. At best, this is simply a way to introduce some French words and provide a little satisfying busy-work for a French-interested student. It is not much of an aide in actually learning the language.

This is a lovely, colorful skill building (vocabulary building) French exercise book for young children! I photocopy the pages for my kids, and my kindergartner, first grader, and third grader all enjoy completing the exercises in this book.I have bought a few French workbooks for this age range, and this is our current favorite.

My son and I have been working on French with several programs for about 2 years now, predominately through auditory methods. Now that he can read and write, I chose this book to work on those skills. We are very pleased with it so far. We did the first 8 pages in one day, most of it review from what we already knew (alphabet, numbers, colors), but the well laid out visual workbook really took us to the next level. We learned numbers 11-20, spelling them and saying them (something we've been working on for a few weeks and got in the one day with this book). My son and I give it 2 thumbs up.

This is English and French beginners learning skills. It's very helpful with numbers and simple phrases and brings an excitement to learning a different language. It's made easier! This was for my 11 year old granddaughter who loves everything French!

Purchased for homeschooling. Lessons are age appropriate (Elementary level K-5) and I appreciate how directions are translated in English. I am learning alongside my enthusiastic children!

Good book. I was hoping it would be larger - 8.5 x 11 overall so that my Kindergartener and Second Grader could write easier on the worksheets. The worksheets were not plentiful, but the vocabulary was good.

I bought this so i have somewhere to start. It is a good if your a visua learner and i love that it shows you how to pronounce everything which is something i struggle on. Its only about 80 or so pages but for the basics and small details like getting to know your colors, numbers, and seasons. it isnt bad!
