Appleman was a military historian on duty and assigned to Korea. His information includes not only unit after-action reports but face-to-face conversations with participants from private to general. It may be this is partly this book is the official history of the Korean War. To the uninitiated it will take a little time to sort military jargon but the effort is worth it. As a veteran, I enjoyed reading a book for me. It talks the way the army talks-officially that is. WEB Griffin talks the army barracks talk. No sensationalism, journalistic fluff or polished public release language. Just the straight skinny.

Has information I need for my research on the Korean War

The Kindle version of this book can only be described as a disgrace. The kindle version is cobbled together from the print copy and is in such terrible shape as to make it almost unreadable

The conversion to e-book format is atrocious. By far the worst I have ever seen. The writing is bogged down in indescribable minutia. the book ends absurdly in mid air. I want my money back!

This book was purchased for a Korean War Veteran. He was very pleased with the condition and THRILLED with the quality of the numerous color maps. Would work with this seller again!

I obtained the e-book after reading the publication years ago. I was chagrined to note numerous issues with the format including illegible inserts, mismatched typefaces and other annoying issues, That said I recommend the print version as an excellent addition to anyone interested in the early, fluid phases of the Korean War.

good

Pages 419 through 488 were not bound within the book, and pages 505 through 510 pages were inserted in their place; pages 505 and 510 were also bound in the book at their correct place. The material within the book is excellent; however, the missing pages requires me to read another source to determine what happened that was missing from the bound copy.
