I purchased this book in Kindle format.Glad my first book was an inexpensive one...I learned that if I want to learn anything from the illustrations, I should get all of my future books in a hard copy format.

This was not exactly what I was looking for at all. If you're looking for something not as detailed and would like to cover more about usage of general tools for removing case backs or time pieces, this is not the book. This is more like an introductory anatomy of a watch book.I will say the book could be useful if I were interested in going into a great bit of effort in preparing/restoring a watch I could not part from based on some sort of value to myself.

The cover shows on the bottom a photo of a pocketwatch, on the top we see watch parts, including the calendar/date ring. This last piece is not seen in the book as it appears this is just an old book reprinted with a modern cover. Review photo of the book’s index so you see if this is what you need.

Don't expect to be an expert after reading this, but I found it a great introduction, leaving you with just enough knowledge to be dangerous—or to attempt some surgery on a beater piece.It's a very quick read. I especially found useful the procedure for stripping down and making sure to separate the pieces in order that you reassemble.

This book is nice. It looks like it will provide the information I need to become familiar enough to work on my watches. I recommend this book for some one interested in the topic.

As a hobbyist watch and lock repair-person, I found this book useful and clarifying. I was able to change some of my practices, though I wish (living as I do in the Midwest, I had more access to watches to practice with.

I am a rank beginner and this helps me a lot.

It is neither too verbose nor too terse in its introductions and explanations. The visuals provided show you what they need to. Out of all the Horological introductory books I've read I would probably recommend this one first for people with an interest in sampling the study of timekeeping (Horology). In my opinion; if this book does not leave you yearning for more then you can reasonably conclude that horological pursuits are not your cup of tea.
