Dr. John Sailhamer has served on the translation committees for two versions of the Book of Genesis. He holds a Ph.D. in Semitics from UCLA and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary. Dr. Sailhamer has taught at Bethel Seminary and Philadelphia College of Bible, and has served as professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He was scholar in residence at Northwestern College in Roseville, Minnesota and concurrently professor of Old Testament at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Most recently, he has taught Old Testament and Hebrew at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and then at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Southern California campus in Brea. I used this book as reference for an on-line lecture last year and it was a good resource. What I learned as right brain -- left brain is today redefined so it took some adjusting in my left brain. But, overall, this is a good source for teachers. Had good ideas, well presented so even if you are not an instructor, the information is simple enough for any one to understand.RECOMMENDED. I was fortunate to have been trained in the 80's by Bernice on applying the 4Mat Cycle to my teaching....I am now retired but I continue to use her idea in my private piano teaching...The new book is outstanding and SO much better than the original. I recommend any teacher or parent or administrator to read this book and apply the principle to the teaching of the children....My only regret is that not many teachers believe that the children are diverse and learn in many different ways so they continue teaching to the abstract learner....How sad for the children....

For example, organizing your financial house is the first step in making money; or before raising your company's fees, it's best to make a list of every rebuttal you could receive from clients and write and memorize responses to each. However, before stumbling on this sort of pragmatic advice, the reader must endure distracting inspirational maxims ("I take the cream off the top, because I'm worth it") and corny analogies about the importance of multiple levels of savings and investments ("You can break a single pencil with just two fingers, but if you have eight or nine pencils, you can't break them at all"). While the premise-that creating wealth will not automatically send one to hell in a designer handbag-can be a valuable lesson to those afraid of the exploitative evils of material gain, the book swings awkwardly between new age positivism and financial hardball.
